“India Slams Pakistan at UN: ‘A Failed State Surviving on Handouts'”

India strongly criticized Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), calling it a “failed state” that survives on international aid. The sharp response came after Pakistan’s Law Minister, Azam Nazeer Tarar, made allegations about human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.

India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, Kshitij Tyagi, dismissed Pakistan’s claims as falsehoods dictated by its military establishment.

“It is unfortunate that Pakistan keeps misusing global platforms to spread propaganda. Its rhetoric is full of hypocrisy, its actions are inhumane, and its governance is incompetent. Meanwhile, India remains committed to democracy, progress, and dignity for its people—values that Pakistan should learn from,” Mr. Tyagi stated.

Pakistan Accused of Using OIC for Propaganda

Mr. Tyagi accused Pakistan of exploiting the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its political motives instead of addressing its own internal crises.

“Pakistan is making a mockery of the OIC by using it as its mouthpiece. It thrives on instability and survives on international handouts,” he remarked.

Jammu and Kashmir Will Always Be Part of India

Reaffirming India’s position on Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Tyagi made it clear that the region is and will always remain an integral part of India.

“The Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will always remain an inseparable part of India. In recent years, these regions have seen major progress, proving the people’s trust in the Indian government’s commitment to restoring peace in an area long affected by Pakistan-backed terrorism,” he emphasized.

Pakistan’s Human Rights Record Under Fire

Mr. Tyagi also slammed Pakistan for its own human rights violations, saying it had no moral right to lecture others. He pointed out Pakistan’s long history of persecuting minorities, suppressing political opposition, and harboring UN-sanctioned terrorists.

“Instead of its unhealthy obsession with India, Pakistan should focus on governing its own country and providing justice to its people. It is a nation where human rights abuses and systematic oppression are state policies, while terrorists freely operate under government protection,” he added.

India’s Firm Stand at the UN

This strong rebuttal comes just days after India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, made a similar statement at the UN Security Council (UNSC). On February 19, he reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir is and will always remain an integral part of India, dismissing Pakistan’s claims as baseless.
