Pakistani soldiers on Wednesday fired unprovoked on Indian posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. After this, the Indian Army gave them a befitting reply. Security officials have given this information. Pakistan has suffered heavy losses in the firing of Indian soldiers.
Earlier, two Indian Army soldiers were martyred in an IED blast by suspected terrorists near the Line of Control in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district.
Ceasefire violations had become very rare along the LoC since the ceasefire agreement between the Indian and Pakistan armies was re-implemented on February 25, 2021. Officials said Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing on a forward post in the Tarkundi sector of the LoC. The Indian Army retaliated strongly and resulted in heavy casualties among the enemy forces.
Meanwhile, officials said a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army suffered minor injuries after stepping on a landmine in the same area this evening. The injured officer was rushed to an Army hospital.
Officials also said that the situation along the LoC remained tense as hostile activities from across the border increased in the past week. This was the first ceasefire violation this year and the fourth incident across the border in five days.
On Monday, a soldier was injured in cross-border firing while manning a forward post in Kalaal area in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. On February 8, militants had fired on an Indian Army patrol party in Keri sector of Rajouri. The militants were waiting for an opportunity to infiltrate into the Indian territory.
On the night of 4 and 5 February, landmine explosions in the Krishna Ghati sector caused casualties to terrorists who were trying to infiltrate into the Indian border.
