US agrees: China did a big U-turn on Ukraine issue?

Leaders of the US, China and several European countries have gathered in the German city of Munich to discuss and shape the future of global geopolitics. US Vice President JD Vance attended the three-day conference, while China’s foreign minister Wang Yi participated in it on behalf of America’s biggest rival. It is believed that at the Munich Security Conference, Vance is going to take forward the discussion on US President Donald Trump’s pledge to end the Ukraine-Russia war in the course of direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Meanwhile, China, which is a friendly country of Russia, has also promised to stand with the US on preventing the Ukraine war. After his speech to the organisers at the conference, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi supported Donald Trump’s plans and said that it is necessary for peace. According to a report by the South China Morning Post, Wang said, “China would like to see all efforts for peace be favorable… The United States has reached a common understanding with Russia and we believe that all parties and all stakeholders should participate in the peace negotiation process at the appropriate time.”

Vice President JD Vance, who came on the stage before Wang, was expected to talk about Ukraine and inform everyone about President Trump’s thinking for peace efforts, but Vance instead spent his speech criticizing European governments for their policies on migration and digital governance. He targeted European countries on many issues, but when it was Wang’s turn, he said clearly that China supports preventing Ukraine-Russia war and stands with the US President.

This is being considered a change in China’s stance because Russia has considered China as its friend and in the last three years China has helped Russia a lot. China has not commented even once against Russia’s attack on Ukraine but now when Trump’s rule has started in America and America has increased the trade war by imposing tariffs on China, then China has changed its stance and announced to support America.

The big thing is that Russia has not said anything openly about the peace talks yet and it is keen to get its conditions accepted instead of the American conditions on the negotiating table. On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he will negotiate with Russia only when Donald Trump has a common plan. Meanwhile, China has given a new diplomatic introduction. If China supports America on the proposals for peace talks, then it can be a big blow for its friendly country Russia because America has already said that it will not allow Ukraine’s sovereignty to be tampered with, while Putin is bent on destroying Ukraine.
