Germany: Protest against Pakistan’s genocide in Balochistan

The Baloch National Movement (BNM) in Germany has organized multiple protests and awareness campaigns to highlight human rights violations and enforced disappearances in Balochistan. These demonstrations, led by the BNM Germany Chapter, have taken place in cities such as Cologne, Chemnitz, and Koblenz.

Key points from the protests and related activism:

Raising Awareness: Protesters aim to inform the international community about the dire situation in Balochistan, attributing the ongoing atrocities to Pakistan’s occupation of the region since 1948. They seek intervention from the European Union and other nations to support the Baloch people.

Human Rights Violations: Speakers at the events have highlighted the severe human rights violations, including the enforced disappearances of over 45,000 people in the past two decades, according to the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP). The discovery of mutilated bodies at Nishtar Hospital University in Multan has further intensified the crisis, with many believing the bodies belong to Baloch individuals abducted by Pakistani forces.

“Kill and Dump” Policy: Pakistan’s government is accused of employing a “Kill and Dump” policy, where state intelligence agencies abduct, torture, and extrajudicially kill human rights activists and dissidents. Mass graves serve as evidence of this systematic violence.

Role of Women: A significant aspect of recent activism is the prominent role of women, exemplified by the “March Beyond Silence” initiated by Dr. Mahrang Baloch from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) in December 2023. This peaceful, women-led long march from Turbat to Islamabad seeks to address the humanitarian crisis.

Nuclear Concerns: The Free Balochistan Movement (German Branch) has also raised concerns about the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, particularly its storage in Balochistan, citing environmental degradation, health issues, and the risk of these weapons falling into the wrong hands.

Baloch National Gathering: Activists like Maharang Baloch have called for gatherings, such as the Baloch National Gathering in Gwadar, to demonstrate unity and resilience against oppression.
