Bangladesh’s ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called interim government’s chief advisor Mohammad Yunus a ‘terrorist’. She has also vowed to take revenge for the killing of policemen in the country. During the demonstrations in June-August last year, more than 800 protesters were killed, in which many policemen were also killed.
According to media reports, Hasina recently spoke to 5 widows and their children through a Zoom link. This virtual meeting was organized by Awami League President Najrul Islam. He has alleged that Yunus has turned Bangladesh into a hub of terrorism. He has also advised him not to run the government.
He said, ‘Yunus has no experience of running a government. He has dissolved all the investigation committees and freed the terrorists to kill people. They are destroying Bangladesh. We will throw out this government of terrorists. Insha Allah.’
She said, ‘I will return and take revenge for the death of our policemen.’ She said, ‘Eunice has included a so-called student leader in his interim government, who says that there can be no movement without killing policemen. We have to end this anarchy.’ She also said that on August 5, she escaped from the clutches of the mob, so that she can once again serve the people of Bangladesh.
She said, “I request all of you to stay calm and united. I will return and avenge our martyrs. I will do justice like before. That’s my promise.”
Several policemen were also targeted during the violence. More than a dozen police officers were killed in Sirajganj and their bodies were burned.
