The US court gave this order about Elon Musk’s DOGE

Washington, United States:A U.S. court has temporarily declined to block Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing student data from the Education Department, marking a minor legal win for the billionaire in his efforts to streamline public spending. Musk’s team has faced several legal hurdles in its attempts to reduce government expenditures that are seen as wasteful or contradictory to former President Donald Trump’s policies.

The University of California Student Association had filed to block DOGE from accessing sensitive student information, such as social security numbers, loan data, and tax records. However, Federal Judge Randolph D. Moss ruled that the potential harm to students was speculative and that there was no evidence to suggest that Musk’s team would misuse or improperly share the data.

The decision allows both parties to gather more evidence on how Musk’s team handles the data before the judge decides whether the lawsuit can proceed. DOGE is not an official government entity, but it has sought access to data from various federal agencies.

Musk’s team also came under fire earlier this month for attempting to access sensitive Treasury Department data. A Treasury internal report deemed the DOGE team’s request as the “biggest insider threat” to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. Additionally, the head of the Social Security Administration resigned following DOGE’s requests to access Social Security recipient information, according to U.S. media reports.
