The accused who set fire to the house of the girlfriend’s first lover, was caught

A Michigan man has been arrested and charged with six counts of attempted homicide after allegedly traveling more than 700 miles to set fire to the home of a man who had been in contact with his ex-girlfriend.

The incident occurred on February 10th in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, when emergency responders were called to a fire at a residence on Merganser Way around 5:00 a.m. The fire is suspected to have been arson.

When authorities arrived, they found the two-story house completely engulfed in flames. Six adults managed to escape the blaze, with some having to jump from second-story windows to survive. Unfortunately, two dogs perished in the fire, and the six injured residents were taken to local hospitals.

Investigators later determined the fire had been intentionally set. Surveillance footage from a nearby home showed a black sedan stopping near the property at 5:01 a.m., with a person exiting the vehicle carrying an object. The individual walked towards the house, returned to the car about 15 minutes later, and shortly after, a large explosion engulfed the building in flames.

Authorities used township cameras and Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) to track the black 2021 Volkswagen Passat with Michigan plates, leading them to Brian Jones from Rockford, Michigan. Further investigation revealed that Harrison Jones, who lived at the same address, was the ex-boyfriend of a 21-year-old Bensalem woman who had an online connection with him.

A search of Jones’ residence uncovered lock-picking tools, a cell phone, a computer, and burns on his arms. As a result, he was arrested and charged with six counts of attempted criminal homicide, arson, and risking catastrophe.

The Bensalem Police Department thanked the Kent County Sheriff’s Office for their help in tracking down and arresting Jones, as well as praising their investigators for turning a blurry surveillance image into a crucial lead that solved the case. The investigation is ongoing.
