California: Missing transgender person dies after torture, 5 arrested

California: Police claim to have solved the case of a 24-year-old transgender man from Minnesota who went missing. According to police, the body of missing Sam Nordquist has been recovered and five people have been arrested in New York in connection with the case. The arrested people have been charged with second-degree murder and other charges. Police believe that Sam Nordquist was tortured before his death.

According to a press release issued by the police, the investigation into the case was initiated after a request was made by Sam’s family on February 9. On February 13, human organs believed to be Sam’s were found in Yates County, about 50 miles southeast of Rochester. Subsequently, the police came across evidence that showed that Sam was tortured between December 2024 and February 2025. According to Captain Kelly Swift of the New York State Police, Sam was repeatedly tortured, which led to his death.

According to the press release, the arrested people are between the ages of 19 and 38, including Precious Arzuaga (38), Jennifer A. Quijano (30), Keeley Sage (33), Patrick A. Goodwin (30) and Emily Motica (19). Sweet said investigators are looking into the relationship between the five suspects and Nordquist. Ontario County District Attorney James Ritts said the suspects are being held in the Ontario County Jail. Nordquist traveled to New York last September to meet a girl he met online. He has not had any contact with Nordquist’s friends or family since Jan. 1.
