US President Donald Trump recently took a decision. In this, he canceled the $21 million fund given to India to increase voting percentage. There are various discussions about his decision. Meanwhile, while addressing the FII Priority Summit of the Saudi Arabian government on Wednesday night, Trump defended his decision. He also accused the government of former President Joe Biden of electoral interference in India.
Trump said, “Why do we need to spend $21 million for voter turnout in India? I think Joe Biden wanted to make someone else win the election. We have to tell this to the Indian government. This is a big issue.”
Earlier on Tuesday also he had clarified on this matter. Donald Trump said that in today’s time India is capable on its own. India does not have shortage of money. In such a situation why should it be given funds.
He had said, “Why are we giving $21 million to India? They have a lot of money. They are one of the highest taxing countries in the world. Their tariffs are so high that we can hardly enter there to do business. I have a lot of respect for India and their Prime Minister, but how fair is it to give $21 million for voter turnout?”
A few days after returning to the White House, Donald Trump ordered a near-complete ban on all foreign aid. Elon Musk also announced plans to shut DOGE down USAID. Its annual budget is more than $40 billion. It supports development, health and humanitarian programs, especially in poor countries.
