Trump again hinted at taking over Canada, read details

On Thursday, amidst rising tensions and ahead of a highly anticipated hockey match, US President Donald Trump took another jab at Canada, suggesting a US takeover and referring to the country as the “fifty first state”. Trump also expressed his support for the US hockey team as they prepared to face off against Canada.

Trump’s remarks come after he imposed tariffs on Canadian imports and repeatedly verbally attacked the sovereignty of the long-standing ally. The previous meeting between the teams in Montreal was marked by brawls between players and booing by Canadian fans during the US national anthem.

The White House stated that President Trump called Team USA after their morning practice to wish them luck and that he planned to watch the game on television. In a social media post, Trump conveyed his message to the team, stating that Canada, with its lower taxes and stronger security, might soon become the “Fifty First State”.
Trump mentioned that he would be unable to attend the game in person due to a prior commitment to address a gathering of US governors in Washington.
