Since Donald Trump came to power in America, the meaning of diplomacy has changed. In diplomacy, it was believed that even if friendship is not maintained at the ground level, decorum should be maintained in formal language. But since Donald Trump came to power, the diplomatic language itself has changed. Donald has a habit of speaking everything frankly and due to this, he had a heated argument with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky inside the White House. This was the only scene of the meeting of the presidents of two countries in which such a clash took place. Donald Trump was aggressive while pressuring Russia to end the war and Zelensky was also not ready to bow down. But America has given a severe blow to Ukraine by stopping the aid given to it.
Not only this, Europe is also worried now. The reason for this is that the Donald Trump administration is deliberating on whether America should leave NATO or not. Most of the countries in NATO are European. The few countries outside it include Turkey and America. NATO has resolved that if any friendly country is attacked, everyone will fight together. This is the reason why most of Europe is a part of NATO and wants American help in any war. At the same time, most of Donald Trump’s associates, including Elon Musk, say that America should leave this alliance.
Elon Musk says that this alliance does not serve any of America’s interests. It wastes its resources, while only Europe benefits. That Europe which spends very little on weapons and is dependent on America. Apart from Elon Musk, another social media influencer close to Trump, Gunther Egelman, has also written, ‘Now the time has come for America to leave NATO and the United Nations. Apart from this, it should also leave the World Bank.’ Donald Trump’s stance also indicates that he can consider such advice. He himself has been constantly attacking Europe and advising it to make arrangements for its own security.
After the debate with Zelensky, when he was accused of being close to Vladimir Putin, Trump responded to this in his own style. Trump said, ‘We should not spend our time worrying about Vladimir Putin. Instead, we should focus on stopping the crimes being committed by immigrants in America. Gang rapes are being committed by them here. Murders are being committed. In such a situation, we have to focus on dealing with them. If all this continues, we will end up like Europe.’
