The James Bond franchise has been the subject of intense speculation regarding the iconic spy’s future, particularly surrounding the possibility of a gender change following Daniel Craig’s departure. However, Amazon MGM, now in creative control of the 007 franchise, has reportedly put an end to such rumors, confirming that Bond will remain male and British.
Since Amazon Studios took control of the franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, fans have been concerned about the direction of the beloved series. According to a report by the Daily Mail, an internal memo circulated at the studio made it clear that “the spy will not change gender or nationality.”
Amid ongoing speculation about how Amazon plans to evolve the franchise, an insider told the Daily Mail, “There have been so many erroneous rumours about the future of Bond. Amazon is committed to keeping the spirit of Bond alive and that means he has to be British or from the Commonwealth – and he has to be male.”
