Brought back in handcuffs again
Amritsar: The US forcibly deported 116 more Indians residing illegally. All the men, except women and children, were deported handcuffed at the Amritsar airport at 11.30 pm on Saturday in a US Air Force aircraft Globemaster. Where after 5 hours of verification, everyone was sent home in police vehicles.
Earlier, on February 5, 104 NRIs were forcibly sent back. In which men and women, except children, were brought in handcuffs and shackles. The third batch will arrive today (February 16), Sunday. In which there will be 157 NRIs.
Those forcibly deported on Saturday included 65 from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 8 from Gujarat, 2 each from Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and 1 each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Most of them are in the age group of 18 to 30 years.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier reached Amritsar airport to welcome them. But due to delay in the arrival of the plane, he had to return. After which, two ministers of the Punjab government, Kuldeep Dhaliwal and Harbhajan Eto, welcomed the youth of Punjab.
Patiala: Sohajbir mortgaged land, spent Rs 60 lakhs
Sohajbir’s mother Baljinder, a resident of Gajewas village in Patiala, did not know that her son had been deported. The mother started crying. She told that she mortgaged her 3 acres of land and took a loan and spent Rs 60 lakhs. The agent kept him in Dubai for a year. He told us that he would send it to America in 20 days. Crossed the border on January 23. Then there was no contact. Mother Baljinder Kaur and father Sukhdeep Singh expressed satisfaction that my son is returning home safely.
Twenty-year-old Jashanpreet Singh also lived in a refugee camp.
Tears welled up in the eyes of mother Kuldeep Kaur as soon as she heard the news of the deportation of 20-year-old Jashanpreet Singh, who had gone to America from Pandori Rajput village in Bhulath constituency. She was also thanking God with tears in her eyes that her son was returning safely. The father said that his son had reached Spain in August. There I decided to go to America. In January, he reached the refugee camp in America. But he was deported.
