Amritsar: The third batch of 112 Indians deported from the US on February 16 arrived at the Amritsar airport, including 44 from Haryana and 33 from Punjab. They arrived in a US Air Force C-17A Globemaster aircraft.
After questioning, a Volvo bus was arranged for the people from Haryana. Amritsar DC Sakshi Sahni said that all the people are physically fit and some children were also among the deported people, who were given milk and diapers.

Earlier, another batch of 116 Indians landed at Amritsar airport, the men of whom were handcuffed and shackled. On February 5, 104 NRIs were also sent back. A total of 335 Indians have been deported so far.

Among the deportees, Daljit Singh of Hoshiarpur said that their hands were tied and their feet were shackled. Patiala police have taken Sandeep and Pradeep, who were deported in the murder case, into custody.
The group included 65 people from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 8 from Gujarat, 2 each from Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and 1 each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier raised the question of why the plane was landed in Punjab instead of Ahmedabad or Ambala.
