Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of murder of two members of a family in Delhi during the 1984 Sikh riots. Along with this, a fine of Rs five lakh has also been imposed on Sajjan Kumar.
On October 31, 1984, when the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi was assassinated, a massacre of Sikhs took place in Delhi and other states, in which more than 3000 Sikhs were killed.

Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday convicted former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The case relates to the murder of a father-son couple in Saraswati Vihar area on November 1, 1984. The case has been listed for sentencing on February 18.
