New Delhi : The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), an agency affiliated with the Government of India, has issued a major warning for users using Google Chrome. This warning means that if you use the Google Chrome internet browser, you should be alert. This warning has been issued specifically for those who use this popular browser on Windows or macOS.
CERT-In has explained in its bulletin which Google Chrome users need to be careful while using which devices and which flaws put them at risk. It has been said that ‘Many vulnerabilities in Google Chrome are due to incorrect implementation of the Extension API and the use of free in Scia, V8.’ These existing flaws can be exploited by attackers and scammers.
The attacker can cause damage from a distance.
The current flaws in the Chrome browser have been found in the most critical parts of the browser and this could cause harm to users. The agency has said that due to the current flaws, a remote attacker can target users remotely and to do this, he would not even need physical access to the device.
In simple terms, without even touching your device, it can be hacked using a specially designed webpage. After this, activities like stealing your personal data, stealing your identity and emptying your account through other scams can also be carried out.
Users will have to wait for the fix
Although the browser automatically updates to the latest version, if you have not updated Chrome yet, you should do so immediately. If your browser has not received the update, you will have to wait for the fix. Chrome versions older than 133.0.6943.53 on Linux and older than 133.0.6943.53/54 on Windows or Mac fall into the risk category.
