Kim Jong Un pays rare visit to his father’s tomb

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang on February 16 to pay tribute to his late father, Kim Jong Il, on the occasion of his birthday. The day, known as the Day of the Shining Star, is a significant national holiday in North Korea. This visit marked the first time in four years that Kim Jong Un had honored the anniversary at the mausoleum, which houses the embalmed bodies of his father and grandfather.Accompanied by his sister, Kim Yo Jong, and senior officials from the Workers’ Party, Kim Jong Un paid his respects “with the humblest reverence,” according to state media KCNA. During the visit, he reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the “sacred struggle” for the country’s prosperity, security, and the well-being of its people.
