Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that he is ready to resign from the post of President in exchange for his country’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Zelensky’s statement is important in terms of ceasefire and peace. In fact, Russia says that if Ukraine wants peace, it will have to give up its desire to join NATO . At the same time, the Ukrainian President is also ready to leave his post in exchange for NATO membership.
According to media reports, Mr. Zelensky has said that he does not wish to remain President for a long time and if his country is included in NATO, he will immediately leave his post. He stressed that if his move restores peace in Ukraine, he will not hesitate to do so. Let us tell you that after Donald Trump became President, Zelensky is very concerned about the role of America. He has said that Donald Trump is supporting Russia. At the same time, Trump has laid down a condition that he will help Ukraine only when it gives America rights over its mineral wealth.
Meanwhile, America has pressured Ukraine to withdraw its proposal supported by European countries presented in the United Nations, which demands immediate withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. An American official and a diplomat gave this information on Sunday. Two diplomats said that Ukraine has refused to withdraw its draft proposal and the United Nations General Assembly will vote on it on Monday.
According to diplomats and a US official, the 193-nation General Assembly is then expected to vote on the US draft resolution. The official gave this information on the condition of anonymity. The US draft resolution ‘acknowledges the tragic loss of life during the Russia-Ukraine conflict and appeals for an early end to the conflict and a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia’ but it never mentions Russia’s invasion. US President Donald Trump’s administration is also seeking a vote on its resolution in the United Nations Security Council. The Security Council is scheduled to meet on Monday afternoon regarding Ukraine. (With inputs from agencies)
