Once again a stabbing incident has come to light in France. One person died and two people were injured in a knife attack in the eastern region. The country’s anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office gave this information. It said that a 37-year-old Algerian man has been arrested in connection with the attack. This attack took place in the French city of Mulhouse and this city is located near Germany and Switzerland. The office said that it is investigating the matter.
According to the report, the suspect first attacked municipal police officers. During this, he was heard saying ‘Allahu Akbar’. The same information was given by France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor Unit. French President Emmanuel Macron described the attacker as an Islamic extremist. He said that the government is fully determined to respond to this attack. Reacting to the case, Mulhouse Mayor Michel Lutz said in a Facebook post, ‘A terrorist incident has taken place in our city.’ He said that the knife attack is being investigated as a terrorist attack, but it is yet to be confirmed by the judiciary.
Stabbing at Berlin Holocaust Memorial
Earlier, on Friday, there was a stabbing incident at Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial in Germany. A Spanish tourist was seriously injured in the attack. Police said the suspect has been taken into custody. They said the attack took place around 6 pm local time. The victim was taken to hospital by firefighters for emergency treatment. Emergency workers were at the scene to help several people who witnessed the incident. Authorities cordoned off the site in the city center after the attack and launched a search operation. According to German newspaper Tagesspiegel, the victim has sustained injuries from a sharp object.
