“That’s Enough”: Trump Dismisses Canada Question During Press Conference

Washington, D.C.:
During a joint press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday, US President Donald Trump abruptly shut down a journalist’s question regarding Canada while Starmer was responding.

As the UK Prime Minister addressed the query, he remarked, “I think you’re trying to find a divide between us that doesn’t exist. We’re the closest of nations and had very good discussions today, but we didn’t touch Canada.” Before he could continue, Trump interjected, saying, “That’s enough, thank you.”

Tariffs on Canada and Mexico to Continue

Earlier in the day, President Trump confirmed that tariffs on Canada and Mexico would remain in place from March 4, citing concerns over illicit drug trafficking from their borders into the US. He also reaffirmed that the reciprocal tariffs set for April 2 would be enforced “with full force.”

On February 4, Trump had paused tariffs for 30 days after securing alleged commitments from Canada and Mexico to enhance border security. However, he now insists that drugs continue to flow into the US at unacceptable levels.

Trump’s Statement on Drug Smuggling

In a Truth Social post, Trump stated:

“Drugs are still pouring into our Country from Mexico and Canada at very high and unacceptable levels. A large percentage of these drugs, much of them in the form of Fentanyl, are made in, and supplied by China. More than 100,000 people died last year due to the distribution of these dangerous and highly addictive POISONS.”

He vowed to take strict action against drug smuggling, particularly targeting Fentanyl imports.

“Millions of people have died over the last two decades. The families of the victims are devastated and, in many instances, virtually destroyed. We cannot allow this scourge to continue to harm the USA. Therefore, until it stops, or is seriously limited, the proposed TARIFFS scheduled to go into effect on MARCH FOURTH will, indeed, go into effect as scheduled,” Trump wrote.

China Faces Additional Tariffs

In addition to the tariffs on Canada and Mexico, Trump announced that China will also be hit with an additional 10% tariff from March 4.

“China will likewise be charged an additional 10 per cent Tariff on that date. The April Second Reciprocal Tariff date will remain in full force and effect. Thank you for your attention to this matter. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” Trump concluded.
