US President Donald Trump has addressed a joint session of Congress, continuing his aggressive stance on global affairs. During his speech, he made bold statements regarding the Panama Canal and Greenland, asserting that the US will retain control over both territories by any means necessary.

Trump’s Stance on India, China, and Russia
In his speech, Trump also mentioned India, China, and Russia, particularly targeting India’s trade policies. He accused India of imposing heavy taxes on American goods and announced that the US would impose retaliatory tariffs, effective April 2.
Trump’s Comments on Zelensky and Ukraine
Trump also spoke about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that Zelensky had changed his stance and was now willing to negotiate peace with Russia. Trump revealed that he had received a letter from Zelensky, in which the Ukrainian leader expressed his willingness to grant rights over Ukraine’s mineral resources as part of a potential deal.
Trump claimed that this agreement would strengthen Ukraine and contribute to ending the war. He quoted Zelensky’s letter, saying: “Ukraine is ready for talks. No one wants peace more than the people of Ukraine.” This statement is significant because just last week, Trump and Zelensky had a heated exchange at the White House, a rare occurrence in global diplomacy.
India Faces Trade Pressure Amid Tariff Announcements
Trump’s remarks have raised concerns for India, as he reiterated that India’s high tariffs on American goods were unfair. He stated that the US would respond by imposing equivalent tariffs on Indian imports.
Trump justified his decision, saying that for decades, countries had imposed unfair tariffs on American exports, and now it was the US’s turn to retaliate. He specifically named the European Union, China, Brazil, India, Mexico, and Canada, accusing them of levying higher tariffs on the US.
“India charges us more than 100 percent auto tariffs,” Trump declared.
This announcement aligns with Trump’s previous statements in February, where he had warned of retaliatory tariffs on India and China. He had also raised this issue during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US last month.
Trump’s speech signals a potential escalation in global trade tensions, with India and other nations closely watching how these tariff policies unfold in the coming months.
