UK Condemns Security Breach During S Jaishankar’s Visit, Affirms Commitment to Diplomatic Safety

The United Kingdom strongly condemned the security breach involving India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, after a pro-Khalistan protester bypassed a barrier and approached the minister’s motorcade outside Chatham House in London on Wednesday evening.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) stated, “We strongly condemn the incident that took place outside Chatham House yesterday (Wednesday) during the External Affairs Minister’s visit to the UK.”

While emphasizing the UK’s respect for the right to peaceful protest, the spokesperson added, “Any attempts to intimidate, threaten, or disrupt public events are completely unacceptable.” The spokesperson further highlighted that the Metropolitan Police acted swiftly to address the situation and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all diplomatic visitors, in line with international obligations.
