In response to a White House meeting, prominent Ukrainian journalists have shared powerful images and videos documenting Russian war crimes. One reporter highlighted her personal tragedy, revealing that her mother had been internally displaced twice—first in 2014 after Russia’s covert takeover of Donetsk, and again in 2022 from Bucha, a Kyiv suburb devastated by Russian occupation.
Documenting War Crimes
Journalist Kristina Berdynskykh described Russia’s actions as “the worst crimes in Ukraine” and posted a haunting photograph she took on April 5, 2022, after Ukrainian forces liberated Bucha. The image showed five charred corpses lying in a street—grim evidence of the killings, torture, and sexual violence committed by Russian troops during their month-long occupation of the area.
“This is what Russia is doing in Ukraine every day,” Berdynskykh stated.
Intensified Russian Attacks
As US-Russia peace talks took place in Saudi Arabia last month, Russia has intensified its attacks across Ukraine. Early Saturday, Russian forces launched nine drone strikes on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. Seven people were injured, and several private homes were damaged, according to local officials.
With no sign of de-escalation, Ukraine continues to endure relentless bombardment, while journalists strive to keep the world informed of the war’s ongoing devastation.
