The US has imposed sanctions on 4 Indian companies for dealing in crude oil and petroleum products with Iran. This decision has been taken under the Donald Trump administration’s policy of increasing pressure against Iran. The US Foreign Assets Control Department has taken this decision. Under this, the US State Department has imposed sanctions on 30 people from many countries and 4 Indian companies. According to information received from the US State Department, one of the 4 Indian companies on which sanctions have been imposed is Navi Mumbai-based Flux Maritime LLP. Apart from this, BSM Marine and Austin Ship Management Private Limited operating from NCR are included. The US has also banned Cosmos Lines based in Thanjavur.
This is not the first time that the US has imposed sanctions on Indian companies. Earlier in October, the US had also imposed sanctions on India-based company Gabbaro Ship Services. In August and September too, the US had imposed sanctions on three other companies. The US said that these companies had transported Russian LNG.
