Wyoming Confirms First Human Case of H5N1 Bird Flu
The Wyoming Department of Health announced on Friday that it has identified the state’s first human case of H5N1 bird flu, marking the third confirmed hospitalization due to the virus in the United States.
According to Wyoming State Health Officer Alexia Harrist, the patient, a woman currently hospitalized in another state, has underlying health conditions that may increase susceptibility to illness. She was likely exposed to the virus through direct contact with an infected poultry flock at her home.
